#FIBAAmericasWomen2015 - Chile announces its 12 for Edmonton

SANTIAGO (2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship) – With less than two weeks to go for the start of the best tournament of women's basketball in the Americas, coach Ricardo Gonzales unveiled the list of players that will represent Chile at the 2015 Edmonton FIBA Americas Championship.

The National Team of Chile, which already had several months of preparation, recently completed a tour of friendly games against a rival of the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, the National Team of Ecuador.

The tour had a total of four games in three cities in Chile.

San Fernando hosted the first meeting where the hosts took the victory 54 - 44.

The second meeting was last held the Olympic Training Center and the teams fought with intensity, but the local rose at the end for a 69-65.

With the same intensity as in the second game, the third game was dominated by the Chilean, who managed to control the pace, for the win, 59-43.

Marking a clear trend, the Chilean continued in control and won the fourth game, 59-50, to end the tour with a 4-0 record.


Finished with the games against Ecuador, Chile undertook a trip to Brazil where they will continue their preparation for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.

Chile will be part of Group A at Edmonton and their first match will be against the Dominican Republic on August 9. Then the team will face against Canada, Cuba and Puerto Rico.

The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship will qualify the recipient of the gold medal to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the teams that finish in the second, third and fourth positions will classify to the 2016 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Chile’s team for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship: Thiare Garcia, Dafne Bermúdez, Sendy Basáez, Ziomara Morrizon, Francisca Rojas, Marisol Gamboa, Bárbara Cousiño, Jenifer Fuentes, Catalina Abuyeres, Milena Koljanin, Ángela Angotzi, Vanessa Leeper.
